Radio Frequency FAQs
What is it?
Radio Frequency is a non invasive treatment which directs radio waves through a probe which is rested on the skin to transmit energy to the deep dermal and hypo-dermal areas. Areas where other medical laser and light devices cannot penetrate.
The use of Radio Frequency treatment has been around for many years and used for a variety of medical applications;
- Skin tightening
- Decreasing of wrinkles
- Tightening of large pores stimulation of collagen cells
- Reshape facial outlines and produce a degree of lift Body Figure rebuilding
How does it work?
By focusing on the chosen target area, the RF will cause Collagen to heat up to a level where it contracts and starts to tighten and lift the skin. Your therapist will then cool down the top layer of your skin whilst the deeper skin layers are being heated. This then produces new collagen which remodels and tightens the skin naturally over time. The end result is the production of underlying natural firming, tightening and lifting of the skin, presenting a firmer, younger looking you.
What parts of the body can be treated and what results can I expect?
Radio Frequency can be used on any area of the body to treat loose skin, including the face and neck. It is suitable for all ages and used as an alternative to dermal fillers. It is an effective treatment for the face because the ageing process sees a reduction in the amount of fat, particularly on the cheeks. Instead of plumping out the skin which is the outcome of filler treatments, it simply tightens the skin once again.
Is it painful?
No, this is a pain free treatment. There is an immediate cooling sensation followed by a warm one not unlike a cooling massage. Mild redness may occasionally appear and some static sensation, but will be highly unlikely to cause actual pain. Heat will be felt from the hand piece during the treatment but is completely tolerable.
Is it safe?
Yes, this is a non surgical procedure and is non invasive. You will be free to carry on with your day as normal following the treatment. There is no special care needed following the treatment, although a good quality sunscreen is recommended.
What happens after treatment?
A slight reddening of the skin can sometimes be experienced following treatment. The collagen tightening occurs at the actual time of treatment and new collagen is stimulated to form over time following the treatment. There is no recovery time, no healing scars and little or no pain during or after your treatment so you are free to carry on with your day as usual.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment can take between 30 minutes and an hour depending on the size of the target area. The treatment should be seen as something that will deliver results over a period of time rather than an immediate solution.
How many treatments will I need?
For optimum results, six to eight sessions are recommended, although some results will be visible after just one treatment. Our fully qualified therapists will consult with you to set a plan to reach your desired results, RF should be viewed as a gradual process of improvements, not as an immediate solution. The most significant results will be seen after 3-4 treatments.
How long does it last?
Many people find the results lasting for circa two years but results will depend largely on the individuals ageing process and skin care habits.
